PRC: Mga miembro ng BON di na dapat gumawa ng nursing board exam

Nakatakdang humarap sa Senado ang chairwoman ng Professional Regulation Commission sa Miyerkoles.

Ayon sa report ng Bandila haharapin ni PRC chairwoman Leonor Tripon-Rosero ang budget hearing sa Senado at hindi ang komite na nag-iimbestiga sa naganap na leakage sa nursing licensure examinations.

Nakuha din ng Bandila ang ilang pagbabago sa batas na inirekomenda ni Rosero. Una na dito ang pagkontrata na lamang sa mga test writers at pag-aalis sa trabaho ng Board of Nurses ang paggawa ng mga test questions para sa board exam.

Pangalawa dito ay ang pagtaas ng sweldo ng mga kasapi ng board at ipantay sa sahod na natatanggap ng dean ng nursing college. Napag-alaman na P21,000 ang sinasahod ng isang miembro ng BON at P23,000 naman ang sweldo ng chairman.

Inirekomenda na rin ni Rosero na payagan ang mga miembro ng BON na makapagturo o makapagtrabaho.

Ikatlong rekomendasyon nito ay ang pag-alis sa mga review centers at isali sa kurikulum ng nursing ang review classes na maaaring simulan sa susunod na semestro.

Nais din ni Rosero na pagbawalan ang mga nagmamay-ari ng mga nursing schools at review centers na makapag-nominate ng mga magiging kasapi ng BON.

Hiling di nito ang pagbuo ng test research, development and statistics office upang mas magkaroon ng kalidad ang mga tanong na lalabas sa mga eksaminasyon.

Nabatid na ang lahat ng repormang nais na maipatupad ni Rosero ay mangangailangan ng karagdadang badyet para sa PRC.

PRC wants test writers to prepare nursing board exams

The chairwoman of the Professional Regulation Commission is proposing a revision of rules covering the Nursing Licensure Examinations (NLE) including the hiring of test writers to prepare the exams, ABS-CBN’s Bandila reported Tuesday.

PRC Chairwoman Leonor Tripon-Rosero is recommending that Board of Nursing members should not work on drafting test questions for the nursing board exams. She said that the BON should hire test writers to draft the questions.

Rosero is also proposing a raise in the standard pay of BON members to match the salaries of nursing college deans. BON members receive about P21,000 a month while the board chairman gets P23,000.

Rosero is also recommending that BON members be allowed to teach in nursing colleges.
The PRC chairwoman is scheduled to present the recommendations before the Senate budget committee hearing on Wednesday.

Other recommendations from PRC include: closure of nursing board review centers, the addition of review classes in the nursing curriculum and the barring of owners of nursing schools and review centers from nominating candidates to the BON.

The PRC is also calling for the creation of a test research, development and statistics office to maintain the quality of the NLE following the reported leakage in the last board exams.

The National Bureau of Investigation said it will summon 22 deans of nursing schools who reportedly benefited from the leakage. The NBI is also investigating the bank accounts of PRC and BON officials.

The NBI earlier recommended the filing of criminal charges against BON members Anesia Dionisio and Virginia Madeja for allegedly receiving a P7-million bribe for the leakage.
